Liberal Arts and Sciences Centennial Scholar

Ted Underwood
Ted Underwood is Professor of English in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research uses digital libraries to reveal large patterns in literary history. He has found supervised machine learning particularly valuable, using it to understand the transformation of genre, of character, and of literary judgment, from the eighteenth century to the present. He's also interested more broadly in the implications of information science for scholarship and teaching in the humanities.
