Study within the program is divided into phases. The student experience will involve progression through all three phases.

The four-year fellowships within the program offer:

  • In-state tuition and health coverage for the duration of the 4-year award.
  • Two-year research position with stipend at the Center for Informatics Research in Science and Scholarship working with a team on established data curation research projects – CIRSS is a diverse GSLIS center conducting research on information problems that impact scientific and scholarly inquiry within projects and activities focusing on how digital information can advance the work of scientists and scholars, the curation of research data, and the integration of information within and across disciplines and research communities.
  • One-year, on-site field experience internship at the National Center for Atmospheric Research working with science and data mentors with deep expertise in scientific data management, delivery, curation, and preservation.
  • One-year dissertation fellowship

Awards are competetive adn will be assigned to the most qualified applicants after admission to the GSLIS Ph.D. program.
